MENAGE A TROIS.
TWO-SPIRIT
Before the European settlers came and stole their land, history and culture, the Native Americans had a culture where gender diversity was accepted. The modern term, although disputed, is two-spirit. Both male-bodied and female-bodied two-spirit were accepted and played a significant role in their society. They were shamans, weavers artisans, etc., even chiefs. Two-spirit people typically formed sexual and emotional relationships with non-two-spirit members of their own sex, forming both short- and long-term relationships. The faces express the artist impression, and not any tribe in particular.
